Due to the short and simple flow passage in the gas compression process of axial flow compressor, the gas flow changes little, and basically flows along the axial direction. Different from the centrifugal fan, the compressed air has more sharp turns in the flow channel, thus reducing losses and improving efficiency. In addition, the research and experimental work on aerodynamics and other aspects of axial flow compressor are relatively sufficient, and the test data and design methods are relatively perfect. Therefore, the efficiency of axial flow compressor is often 5-10 higher than that of centrifugal compressor.
Due to the great difference between axial compressor and centrifugal compressor in pneumatic principle, structure type and performance characteristics, it is difficult to say which has absolute advantages or disadvantages, but a more appropriate way can be selected to compare destinations.
